DAY 6

Cody, WY / Buffalo, WY

We had a really late start this morning as we slept in and then G and B hit the town’s golf driving range and I did laundry.  Q had a good morning nap then intermittent ones in the car.

The highlight of today’s driving was most definitely the drive on the Pass through the Bighorn Mountains.  Truly spectacular !

Bighorn Pass, WY

Bighorn Pass, WY

Wyoming is wonderful – open ranges, cowboys, mountains, dusty little towns with saloons and names like “Dirty Annie’s” – however, the Old West wistfulness tarnished by motor inns, strip malls and the like – it’s what the mod’rn world is coming to …….

A path through Wyoming.

A path through Wyoming.

We had a picnic lunch at a rest area close to an airport where there were many old military planes put out to pasture.

Wildlife spotting of the day: 4 grazing moose on a Pass at 9000 feet.  Temperatures averaging 80 degrees, but plummeted to 60 on the Pass.

Staying at the Best Western in Buffalo, WY tonight.  The boys hit golf balls on the lawn and played in the pool.  The hotel restaurant is super kid-friendly with play structures and toys.

A hairy little moment this evening – the hotel key almost disappeared down Spike’s throat when he mistook it for a treat !  Old age dims the eyes but doesn’t dampen the enthusiasm !

What Worked for Us : Traveling with a Dog

To leave your dog alone in a hotel room while you eat you have to be able to trust it.  Traveling dogs have distinct personalities.  Check out www.dogwilltravel.com for more information on hotel etiquette.
